Bali, Thousand of Temples or Thousand of Plastic Wastes - Speech 2019

Today, I'm going to share my speech.

Ladies and Gentlemen and all the audience.

Let me get your attention please.

Well in this moment, I’m going to deliver you a speech. But before, I want to thank the mighty God for His blessing and mercy with panganjali umat “Om Swastyastu”

Have you ever heard about the impacts of the plastic wastes? Or have you ever heard about the new regulations from the Bali’s Government about the use of plastic bags? Well today we will talk about the plastic wastes through this speech in titled: “Bali, Thousands of Temples or Thousands of Plastic Wastes”

Ladies and Gentlemen,

            As the developing country, Indonesia faces a hundreds of obstacles and a thousand of problems. One of them is the problem of the plastic wastes. Plastic waste is one type of waste which is very difficult to decompose. It takes a hundred years to be destroyed. That’s why, plastic waste give a serious threats to the human being. According to Compas.Com said that Indonesia is the second largest producer of plastic waste in the world. It produces 175.000 tons of garbage per day. Wow, it’s really terrible right? According to me, it’s natural because the population of Indonesia is also large. But it’s not natural when we just watching it and do nothing.

            One of the best destination in the world is Bali. Bali is the paradise island, people said. But, is Bali still worthy of being called an island of paradise if there are still many plastic wastes everywhere? Or will there still be many people visiting Bali if there are still many garbage everywhere? I guess no, big big no. Therefore the government under the supervision and order from the Bali’s Governor, Mr.Wayan Koster make a policy on the prohibition on using the plastic bags in Bali. Realizing that the plastic wastes is very dangerous for the human life I strongly agree with this policy. I absolutely agree with this regulation.           

Brothers and sisters,

            According to me, there are some reasons why we need to support the government policy. And I will divided it into 3 aspects, those are:

1.      Environment Aspect

The plastic waste are bring the bad impacts to the environment quality. Plastic wastes can pollute and damaged the environment. It determine the life quality of the creature. When the plastic waste pollute the sea water it strongly will determine the sea’s creature’s life. It probably can kill the fishes, the whales, the turtles, the dolphins and others beautiful God’s creatures. When the amount of plastic waste decrease and the trees increase it will improve the quality of human life.

2.      Health Aspect

Not all the part of the society are understand about the dangerous of plastic waste. Sometimes when they are buy foods, and put it into the plastic bags they are not realizing that it will give a bad impacts to their healthy. Because plastics are made by the hazardous materials. One of the most dangerous threat from the using of plastic bags is cancer. When plastics breaks into our body, it probably causes a various disease one of them is cancer.

3.      Economy Aspect

The government pays a fair amount of money for cleaning operations such as paying staff salaries, buying cleaning tools and equipment and so on. I Mean, when the amount of plastic bags decreased it will be cheaper to government for paying the operation cost for the garbage. It also can give a chance to the craftsmen, and another society to make some craft such as a unique shopping bag and so on. And I’m sure it will boost their economy.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

As the young citizen and the youth generation, what is actually we need to do to support this program? Well there are some action that we can do to support this regulation, those are:

1.      Bring your own shopping bags.

2.      Replace your plastic items with eco-friendly items.

3.      Put your trash in the right place.

4.      Remove plastic from your life.

5.      Do it from the heart.

Waste problems are not the responsibility of the government alone. Its need the attention from everyone. We don’t need to do the big things. Just do the small things with the big soul in it. You don’t want the next 10 to 20 years your home page is filled with plastic wastes, right? So, let’s start it from right now. Start it from yourself.
